I so resonate with your part about hustle mentality. It’s so interesting coming from that culture and being so IN it to now wanting nothing to do with it while also trying to figure out how to achieve all the things without it :) possible for sure but requires a deep shift

Pamela, yes. And the trickiest part is that hustle works. It isn’t a lie you were sold. It delivered, which is exactly why it’s so hard to set down.

I’m still figuring out the achieve-it-without-it math. What I have so far is that the hours weren’t the problem. The proving was.

Interesting! And cool experience. I notice so many amazing things like this myself…the magnetism is so true when you’re spiritually clicked on (for lack of better word). I’m genuinely curious what you mean by the “right to surrender” - like how are you thinking about this? I get it as a full-on surrender skeptic, but I’m curious your thoughts. I do feel like it’s kind of all or nothing you’re surrendered or you’re not, you just happened to choose this approach after hustling got to you this place but perhaps surrender would have led you there too? I don’t know… Actually my long time personal coach was mentored by Michael so I am very much a student of his by proxy and have gained a lot from surrendering myself, but always remain a somewhat skeptic. It’s also just much harder to fully surrender than not to! Takes a lot of work…Which is why I relate to your two sides here.

Miz, thank you for reading. And for asking the real question, not an easy one.

Here's what I mean, with the caveat that I think I have it right for me and I'm not at all sure it's right for everyone.

I operate in business. Capitalism, if we're being frank. In that world there's a credibility threshold you have to clear before people hand you real opportunities. I spent a long time hustling to clear it. Proving I was competent, reliable, worth betting on. I cleared it.

What I didn't expect is that past a certain point, more credibility buys you nothing. The returns flatten. That's the moment surrender became available to me in a way it wasn't before.

If I had surrendered ten years earlier, I don't think I'd be here. Not because surrender doesn't work, but because I hadn't yet earned the currency that particular world runs on.

So I'd put it this way. We're all worthy the day we're born. Surrender is available at any point. But if you're playing inside a specific system, it helps to know the rules of that system before you decide when to stop playing by them.

Also, the Michael lineage by proxy. I love that. Of course you'd be the one asking the sharpest version of this question.

And you're right that surrender is the harder one. Not surrendering is the easy default. That's the part we don’t talk about enough.

Thank you for the thoughtful reply. Yes, I hear all of that and it gives me more insight into what you meant there for yourself. I studied economics and am constantly thinking about how to marry spirituality and spiritual teachings with economics and, like you said, the systems we operate within. They shape so much! And we’re here having a human experience at the end of the day.

I’m going to have a think on what my take is. You’ve got my wheels turning.

I think my short take is when you’re open to life’s magic, it exists. See it and appreciate it. It’s not saying you just have to solely rely on magic to get you places, and probably shouldn’t.

You’ve said this beautifully, Miz. I couldn’t agree more. And to your point, we are all having a human experience, in all the messiness that brings with it.
