For the woman who built the model and trusts the dream.

Spreadsheets and Shamans is a bi-weekly essay for the woman who has run the boardroom and pulled the cards. Who closed the deal on Tuesday and did a fire ceremony on Wednesday. Who has spent her whole career being told to keep those two halves of herself in separate rooms.

This is the room where they meet.

Who’s writing this

I’m Nathalie Walton. I co-founded a maternal wellness company called Expectful, ran it as CEO, and sold it to Babylist. Before that, Airbnb and Google. I currently run a wellness business inside a public company. I also burn things on purpose, talk to my future self in journals, and have made every meaningful career decision of my life with one foot in a spreadsheet and one foot somewhere quieter.

I’ve been quietly integrating these two worlds for years. I’m done being quiet about it.

What you’ll get

Every other Sunday, an essay. Each one is a real story from inside the work. The four FAANG offers I turned down. The $40 desk in the corner of my bedroom where I planned my exit. The dream acquirer who became the buyer twenty-three months later.

Each essay ends with three things you can use:

The Practice — something to try this week. The Shelf — something worth reading. The Invitation — a question worth sitting with.

Who this is for

If you’ve ever felt like the most useful parts of you don’t fit in the same room, welcome. They do.

Subscribe, and I’ll send the first essay the moment we go live.
